Donald E. Meyer, 86, residing in Granger, Indiana passed away peacefully at Hospice House in South Bend on Saturday, August 12, 2017.

Don was born to Roland and Gladys (Gill) Meyer on September 27, 1930 at St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka and was an area resident his entire life.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Summerville.

On January 8, 1955 in Alma, Michigan, he married the former Ardis Hicks and she survives along with their children, Cheryl Roberts of Goose Creek, SC, Jon (Bonnie) Meyer and Edwin (Laurie) Meyer both of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren, Aaron (Rika), Brenda (Kris), John and Janelle; two step grandsons, Joshua (Melanie) & Jason (Christina); and three great grandchildren, Aulden, Luke & Scarlett, our “adopted kids”, David, Lorelei & Lily; his brother Leonard (Martha) Meyer of Prescott, AZ and a host of extended family and friends.

A 1948 graduate of Clay High School, Don was a 38 year employee at Bendix Corp and when his department closed he continued his process engineering career at NARMCO in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and worked there ten years.  He also spent four years in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. 

Don enjoyed camping with family and friends; was an avid reader; and treasured time spent with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a lifetime member of the South Bend First Seventh-day Adventist Church, where a memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 24th at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior at the church.
