Doreen Agnes Elling, a beacon of warmth and friendliness, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, in South Bend, Indiana. Born on April 11, 1946, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Doreen was raised by the loving care of her parents, the late Leo Goracki and Pearl (Brown) Goracki. Later in life, Doreen found her birth father, the late Thomas Hruska.

Throughout her life, Doreen was known for her loving nature and her ability to create a sense of home wherever she went. Her radiant smile and infectious laughter brought comfort and joy to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Doreen's spirit of hospitality shone brightest through her work as a bartender and server at various bars, with My Place Bar holding a special place in her heart.

Doreen's legacy is carried on by her cherished family, including her sons Timothy (Patricia) Breeden of New Richmond, WI, and Rodger (Wendy) Breeden of Coon Rapids, MN; her daughters, RonnaLee Breeden of Champlin, MN, and Janele (Donald) Huff of Blaine, MN; her "adopted son," Scott (Christine) Hanneman of Cottage Grove, MN; 7 grandchildren; and brother, Leo Goracki. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Leon Breeden, and her long-time companion, James Daniel McMahon, who passed away three years ago. Doreen was also preceded in death by her brothers, Dan Brown, Laverne Brown, and Manard Brown.

Doreen's life was a testament to the power of love and friendship. She nurtured relationships with a generous heart, always ready to lend an ear or share a comforting word. Her presence was a gift to many, and she will be remembered as a true friend and a loving mother.

A Celebration of Doreen's life will be held at My Place Bar, where friends, family, and those whose lives were touched by her kindness can gather to honor her memory. The exact date of this celebration will be announced in the future. Palmer Funeral Home is providing compassionate assistance to Doreen's family during this time.

Doreen's journey through life was marked by her unwavering friendliness and her dedication to those she loved. She will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
