Dorothy J. (Jenkins) Scott, 77, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the home of her daughter.
Born on April 5, 1949, in Florence, Alabama, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late Cecil and Gladys (Coker) Jenkins.
Dorothy married Donald Scott on December 16, 1966. Together they shared nearly 60 years of marriage and raised a family that was the center of her life.
Dorothy was known for her strength, her independence, and her determination. She was never afraid of hard work and always put the needs of her family before her own. Although she spent most of her life as a devoted homemaker, she also worked as a caregiver in area nursing homes before later working as a secretary. She found great joy in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow, and she was proud of each of them. Her strength, kindness, and steadfast love for her family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Donald; her sons, Donald Jr. (Debra) Scott, Jeffrey "Shane" (Melissa) Scott, Jason (Kristen) Scott, and Samuel "Wade" Scott; her daughter, Tina (Jason) Witt; her 16 cherished grandchildren; and her seven beloved great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Gladys (Coker) Jenkins; her siblings, Peggy, Rebecca, John, and Bob; and her infant grandson, Justin Alan Scott-DuComb.
Private family services are being planned. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend.
