Douglas S. Moore

Douglas S. Moore, 61, residing in Buchanan, MI, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 in Indianapolis, IN. Doug was born on May 5, 1959 in Niles, MI to the late Walter and Marilyn (Krieger) Moore. On July 17, 1999 in Buchanan, he was united in marriage to Kelly Baber who survives.

Doug was a 1977 graduate of Buchanan High School and went on to work for FedEx as a truck driver for 20 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and, most of all, friend. Doug enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time in his barn. The loss of this man will not only be felt by his family but by the entire community. He will be fondly remembered for his love of Jif peanut butter, and he will forever be the peanut butter to Kelly’s jelly.

Douglas is survived by his daughters, Jordan Kelley of Buchanan, and Lacy Stuer of Marquette, MI; sons, Walter (Hannah) Moore of Marquette, MI; Clayton (Hannah) Moore of Gwinn, MI; Justin Kelley of Buchanan; and Zach (Amber) Moore of Nashville, TN. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and his aunt and uncle, Donna and Fred Krieger. Douglas was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Moore, as well as nephew, Seth Moore.

A special thank-you to the staff of doctors and nurses at both Memorial Hospital of South Bend and IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for their care of Douglas. Also, a thank-you to the community of Buchanan for your support during this time—it has been felt by the family and is appreciated.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN.  A private burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan, MI.
