Duane Perez Obituary

Duane Jay Perez, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on the romantic day of love, February 14, 2026, in his hometown of Mishawaka, IN. Born on March 27, 1979, to the loving parents Juan Perez and Rita (Singleton) Long, Duane grew up enveloped in a vibrant and loving family atmosphere.

Duane's zest for life was infectious, and those who knew him will remember his loving nature, adventurous spirit, and capability with any tool in hand. He attended local high schools where he forged lifelong friendships and learned skills that would serve him throughout his life.

For over a decade, Duane was a respected fabricator at Midwest Finishing Systems, where his dedication and craftsmanship were well-known. At work, he was as much a force of nature as he was at home, bringing joy and laughter to his colleagues.

A true fan of Notre Dame football, Duane was often found at tailgating parties, cheerfully supporting his team. Family cookouts and camping trips with his four children, Jayden, Chyna, Andrew, and Savannah, were among his most cherished activities, filled with love, laughter, and memorable movie quotes, his favorites being "40 Dollars" and "Do you know what a miracle is? It's something that seems impossible but happens anyway."

Duane inherited his love for movies from his adored Gianni Grey, with whom he shared countless moments watching classic films and reciting lines. His siblings, Jesse Perez, Gene Gilliand, and Leticia Perez, shared many of these joyful times, while upholding the family name with pride after the loss of their siblings, Juan Perez Jr. and Veronica Perez.

Duane's legacy lives on through his large family, which includes twenty aunts and uncles, who all have stories to tell of his adventures and escapades. His parents, siblings, and children will miss his robust presence, which was a beacon of love, adventure, and comfort to them all.

Duane Jay Perez's journey through life was a testament to his wonderful personality and the love he shared with everyone around him. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His life reminds us all to embrace our passions, cherish our loved ones, and face each day with a warm smile and a kind heart.

Special recognition to Jayden for being a rock through all of this and to Denise for all your help and endless support. To anyone that helped along the way.
