Dustin “Dusty” E. Marshall, 45, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. He was born on March 26, 1977, in South Bend to Gary and Debbie (Mendenhall) Marshall.
In October 2001, Dustin married Toni Marie Wachowiak. Together they welcomed two children, Olivia and Owen Marshall. Dustin will be sorely missed by them. His remaining surviving family include his parents, maternal grandfather; Richard Mendenhall of South Bend, his sister; Tiffany (Mark) Bishop of Edwardsburg, his Mother in law; Julie Wachowiak of Cassopolis, Mi. and his father in law; Michael Wachowiak of Granger, In.
Dustin was preceded in death by several grandparents; Donna Mendenhall, Ruth Marshall, and Alex and Clara Wachowiak.
Dustin was a 1995 graduate of Penn High School, following high school, he spent 2 years at World Harvest Bible College where he began his faith journey.
One of Dustin's, greatest joys were spending time serving and investing time in his family. This was evident in all that he did with them. He was a master chef indoors, and out on the grill. Always trying something new. He involved his family in outdoor activities such as Apple, Blueberry, Strawberry picking. He even counseled them about the importance of firearm safety, no doubt an extension of his interest in I.N.G.O (Indiana Gun Owners Association) for which he served as an online moderator. His greatest contribution, however, is the love that was shown through the Christlike example that he set for his family. Toni, Olivia, and Owen have great confidence that their husband and father is in his heavenly home today, and they will be able to carry on with the strength that Dustin instilled in them.
Dustin was passionate about his relationship with God, and this was also obvious in his church life. A member of Cornerstone Church, he was an active participant in small the group and children's ministries. He was well liked and respected by other church members and was viewed as a "willing set of hands" whenever he was needed.
He began his career working the production line at Monaco Coach but discovered that driving was his real passion. He left Monaco and joined his father-in-law, at Quality Driveaway, to deliver hundreds of new vehicles over thousands of miles. When the opportunity arose to drive for Marathon Oil, Dustin didn't hesitate because it meant he could spend more time with his family. He served them faithfully for the last 12 years, also receiving numerous safety awards from Marathon.
