Eddie Mae "Hoot" Jackson, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, in South Bend, Indiana, at the age of 90. Born on July 14, 1935, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the late Johnny Jackson and Freddie Mae (Lattimore) Jackson, Eddie Mae's life was one marked by resilience, hard work, and an unwavering love for her family.
Eddie Mae grew up in Forrest City, Arkansas. Eddie Mae's work ethic was evident in her long-standing career as a laborer with Aera Space Technology at Bendix.
Family was the cornerstone of Eddie Mae's life. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Doralyn Lenoir, affectionately known as “Dee Dee”, and her late son, Charles Jackson. Her brothers, Nathaniel, Alfreddie, Johnny, and Curtis Leroy Jackson, also preceded her in death, leaving behind a legacy of sibling love and camaraderie that Eddie Mae cherished deeply.
Eddie Mae's joy was multiplied through her grandson, Anthony Jackson (Amber Jozwik), as well as her great-grandchildren, Deontae Jackson, Anthony D. Jackson Jr., Tyonna Jackson, Ebone Jackson, Arrianna Jackson, Ashley Jackson, Jaden Jackson, Madison Jackson, and Ronald Satchel. Each of them brought immense happiness and pride to her life, and she, in turn, left an indelible mark on theirs.
Among her relatives, Eddie Mae held a special place in her heart for her nephew, Todd DeWayne Fox, who she loved dearly. Her guidance, wisdom, and laughter will be deeply missed by him and all who knew her.
Her memory will forever be a beacon of love and strength for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Funeral Services for Eddie will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend, IN immediately following the service.
