Edith "Kathy" Kathleen Wise

GOSHEN – Edith Kathleen “Kathy” Wise, 71, formerly of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 11:30 AM Friday, August 31, 2018 at Goshen General Hospital, Goshen.

Kathy was born on June 4, 1947 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Fred Hanson and Mabel Hanson, and has been a life-long resident of the South Bend and Mishawaka area.  Kathy was raised by Mildred Wyant of North Carolina.

On August 3, 1996 in South Bend, Kathy was united in marriage to Jim E. Wise, who survives.  She is also survived by her daughter, Shannon Katz of South Bend; grandchildren, Kayla Michael, Abbigail Katz, and Connor Katz; step-daughters, Staci (Tony) Anagnos and Nicole (Wise) Helfrich, both of Elkhart; and step-son, Khris Wise of South Bend.  Also surviving is her sister, Shelia Wisham of Mishawaka, and her brother, David Hanson of North Carolina.  Her brother, Howard Hanson, has preceded her in death.

Kathy was the owner of A You’Nique Image Salon, and had been in the Hair and Permanent Makeup business for over 40 years throughout the South Bend and Mishawaka area.  She was a member of the Women’s Business Association and the Permanent Makeup Cosmetic Association, along with several other organizations.

Kathy was always called “Nanny” by her grandkids – never “Grandma.”  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She was a very caring and loving mother and nanny.  Her times spent by the pool or vacationing were held dear.  She was compassionate, supportive and a true friend to all who knew her.  She was as beautiful inside as she was on the outside.

Funeral services for Kathy will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home River Park Chapel, 2538 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615.  Graveside services will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.  Friends may gather with the family on Friday evening, September 7, 2018 from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services on Saturday.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
