Edward Watkins Obituary

Edward A. Watkins, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2023, at Ernestine M. Raclin House Center for Hospice in Mishawaka, Indiana. Born on January 10, 1945, in Warsaw, Indiana, Edward was the son of the late Joe Watkins and Inez (Barringer) Watkins.

Edward grew up in Warsaw and was a high school graduate. He went on to have a successful career working for Reith Riley, where he dedicated many years of service. His strong work ethic and commitment to his job were admired by his colleagues and friends.

Edward was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and golfing. He found solace in nature and enjoyed sharing his passion for the outdoors with his family and friends. His skills as a hunter and fisherman were well-known.

Active in his community, Edward was a dedicated member of the Disabled Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the American Legion in the Elkhart, Indiana area. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and was passionate about supporting fellow veterans and their families. His selflessness and kindness were truly inspiring, and he made a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Edward was a devoted father to his daughter, Michelle (Scott) Shupert. He was also a proud grandfather to Chandler Keldsen of San Antonio, TX, Riley Sedlar of Colorado, Dylan Shupert of Bremen, IN, DeLanie Bamburg of Bremen, IN, and Eric Watkins of Warsaw, IN and great-grandchild, Xavier Watkins.

In addition to his daughter and grandchildren, Edward is survived by his sister, Connie Watkins, and nephews, Jim Fuller of Mentone, IN, and Kevin Fuller of Milford, IN. Edward was preceded in death by his son Todd Watkins and  his life-long partner, Jeannie Sedlar.  He will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, and selfless man.

Edward's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and the lasting impact he made on his family, friends, and community. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know him.
