Elizabeth Jane Hawkins

Elizabeth Jane Hawkins, 87 years old, passed away at Healthwin Specialized Care on December 8, 2025 after a brief illness. She was born on September 24, 1938 in Boston, MA. She was the daughter of Marine Corporal Roy Emil Hawkins and Margaret Louise (Golden) Hawkins.

Our beloved Elizabeth was fondly called Betty by her family, while her friends called her Lizzy. She was born with intellectual and developmental disabilities and was blessed with a childlike innocence. She loved Mickey Mouse, teddy bears, playing bingo, word puzzles, writing her thoughts in notebooks and using markers to create sweet pictures of houses, Santa Claus, and Christmas trees. She loved celebrating her birthday and Christmas. Her handwritten birthday and Christmas gift wishlists, along with her art, are precious reminders to find joy in life’s small wonders.

She had many friends through Logan Industries, Portage Manor, and Healthwin Specialized Care. Her family is grateful to all the loving caregivers who walked alongside Elizabeth throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, by her sisters, Barbara Ann Krege and Mary Alice (James) Kulwicki, and by her brother, James Frederick Hawkins.

She is survived by her brother Joseph Ernest (Marcia) Hawkins of Lago Vista, Texas. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private burial and celebration of life.
