Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Lemon, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Granger on Monday April 6, 2026. Born on May 14, 1940, to the late Lester L. and Emma S. (Truman) Bowers, Betty lived a life filled with love, joy, and service to others.
Betty was a devoted wife to her late husband, Charles F. Lemon, whom she married on June 24, 1967. Their love story was one of mutual respect and shared dreams, and their bond remained strong until Charles’ passing on March 1, 2005. Betty was a loving mother to her daughter, Sheri (Kurt) Rimelspach of Granger, and a cherished mother figure to her bonus daughters, Christine (Dennis) Wysocki and Barbara Lovett of Michigan, and bonus sons, Thomas (Linda) Lemon and Douglas (Deb) Lemon, also of Michigan. She was a doting grandmother to 13 and great-grandmother to 18, her love knowing no bounds.
Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Frances (Howard) Clair and brother, Robert (Mary Jane) Bowers. Despite these losses, she remained a beacon of strength and resilience for her family, demonstrating an unwavering spirit that inspired all who knew her.
After high school Betty pursued her passion for beauty and style by earning a certificate in cosmetology. She and her mother, Emma, owned and operated a successful hair salon, where Betty’s creativity and skill brought joy to many. Her salon was not just a place for haircuts and styles, but a hub of community and friendship.
Betty’s interest extended beyond her professional life. She was a dedicated bible schoolteacher, sharing her faith and wisdom with younger generations. She had a deep love for music, playing the washboard and organ with a joy that was infectious. Her hands were rarely still, often busy with crochet or knitting needles, creating beautiful pieces that were treasured by those lucky enough to receive them.
Betty’s life was a testament to her faith, her love for her family, and her commitment to her community. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her generous spirit, and the love she had for her family. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be deeply missed.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation will take place, and she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Charles, at Hamburg Township Cemetery.
The family of Betty Lemon would like to thank the staff at Caring Cottage for their wonderful care, love, and devotion over the last 4 years.
