Estella May Green

Estella “Stell” M. Green, 77, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026. She was born on April 20, 1948, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to the late John L. Riley and Lucille (Stuter) Riley.

On June 21, 1997, Stell married the love of her life, Thelmer “Pete” Green, in Benton Harbor, and he preceded her in death in March of 2021. Together they shared many years of companionship, laughter, and family.

Stell worked for many years in the dry-cleaning industry, where she was known for her strong work ethic and friendly nature. In her younger days, she enjoyed going to concerts and spending time fishing, two activities that brought her joy and adventure. She loved watching NASCAR and had a special affection for her cats, who were always close by.
Stell was especially known for her homemade fudge and the many treats she lovingly made for those around her. Every year, her physicians looked forward to receiving her famous fudge, a tradition she never missed. She also had a favorite local spot—DiMaggio’s—where she delighted in enjoying a plate of spaghetti whenever she could. 

Stell lived life with a spirit that knew no boundaries, loving fully and giving generously to everyone around her.

Stell is survived by her brother, John Riley; her nieces, Elsie (Jeffrey) Hewitt and Lucy (Shawn) Maness; her sister-in-law, Dorothy and her favorite cousin, Peggy (Lee) Foster. She is also survived by seven stepchildren: David, Robert, Barbara, Diane, Terry, Tonya and Rachel.  Along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward. Also, many special friends; Annette & Don, Rob, Raisa, Kris, Pam, Beckie & Fred that will carry many memories of Stell. 

Funeral services for Stell will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Palmer Funeral Home – Hoven Chapel, 414 E. Front St., Buchanan, Michigan. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Graveside services and burial will follow immediately at North Shore Memorial Gardens in Coloma, Michigan.
