Ethel Dabros Obituary

Ethel “Marie” Dabros passed away on April 29, 2026, in Mishawaka, Indiana, at the age of 83. Born on January 17, 1943, in Beckley, West Virginia, she lived a life marked by warmth, curiosity, and devotion to the people and places she loved.

Ethel Marie was the daughter of Arley and Stella (Tolliver) Athey, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Eddie Dabros, and her sister, Judy Barnaby. Their memories remained an important part of her life, and she carried her family in her heart throughout her years.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Brian) Oletti, and by five grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Kayla, Dominic, and Lucas. She also leaves behind 2 great-grandchildren, Scarlet and Booker. Her ex-husband Ed Dabros who remained a good friend. She also leaves behind her niece Lisa (Mike) Strimbu, nephew Todd Shingledecker and many great-nieces and nephews. Marie treasured her family deeply and found happiness in the everyday moments shared with those closest to her.

Marie graduated from Mishawaka High School. She worked in the RV industries and insurance business. When she retired, she worked part-time for Enterprise for many years.

Outside of work, Marie embraced life with an adventurous heart. She loved shopping, gambling and enjoyed watching QVC, where she found delight in discovering new things. She especially loved going to the beach, where she could relax and enjoy the beauty of the water and the open air. Traveling with her sister was among her favorite pastimes, and those trips created memories she cherished. She was also a devoted fan of the University of Notre Dame and followed it with enthusiasm.

Those who knew Marie will remember her as adventurous, loving, and kind. She had a gentle way of making others feel welcome and valued, and her presence brought comfort and joy to her family and friends. Her life reflected a deep appreciation for connection, simple pleasures, and the people she held dear.
