Evan Frederick Shaff of Mishawaka, IN, who was born on October 12, 2000, in Peoria, Illinois, and who passed on June 12, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, was a bright and beloved soul whose brief journey among us was marked by friendship, wit, and a spirit ever eager for wonder.
He was the son of Denise M. Veatch-Hurt (Timothy Batchlor) and Ryan Shaff. Evan was also held dear by his siblings, Krysta Alvarez, Klarisa Price, and Billy Tracey, especially his niece & nephews, Kadyn, Kat, Koda, Kleo, his twinsie Kyriel, and Kandy of who all knew and loved him in a companion of warmth and steadfast affection. In the company of those who loved him, he was known not only by name, but by the gentle light of his presence, which brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of ease to many hearts.
Evan fought illness and life hard as he pursued his studies as a student at Northwood University in Midland, Michigan, where he continued to shape his mind with diligence and promise. He was a young man of keen intelligence, and those who knew him well would speak of his friendly nature, his adventurous spirit, and the ease with which he made others feel welcome. He moved through the world with curiosity and with a mind open to new realms, whether of thought, of fellowship, or of imagination.
His interests were many and lively, and they painted the portrait of a soul deeply engaged with the joys of his generation. He found delight in gaming, in Comicon, in Anime, and in the spirited world of League of Legions. These pursuits were not mere pastimes, but windows into the character of a young man who loved story, community, and the shared marvels of modern fellowship. In such things, he found both recreation and connection, and through them he left his mark upon those who walked beside him.
To speak of Evan is to speak of one who was friendly in manner, intelligent in thought, and adventurous in heart. He was one whose presence could brighten a room, whose words could ease a burden, and whose companionship was a gift to those fortunate enough to know him. Though his years were few, his memory shall endure in the hearts of family and friends, where it shall remain as a treasured flame, not dimmed by time.
Now that he has departed this earthly stage, let those who loved him remember not only the sorrow of his passing, but also the beauty of his life. For in every laugh shared, every game played, every conversation held, and every moment of kindness bestowed, Evan F. Shaff lived with a spirit that was truly his own. May his memory be kept with honor, and may peace attend him in the realm beyond our sight. The Real “Natsu” lives on in our hearts, forever.
