Gary L. Kurtz, 78, of Granger passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 21, 2024 at his home.
Gary was born in South Bend on July 23, 1945 to the late Charles and Virginia (Rose) Kurtz. Gary graduated from South Bend Adams High School and went on to work for Rink Riverside Printing and then on to Plastimatic Arts Corporation, retiring after 51 years of dedicated service.
Gary married Diana Lynn on April 2, 1966, sharing 42 years of marriage before her passing in 2009.
Gary is survived by his son; Michael (Tina) Kurtz of Mishawaka, and his grandchildren; Alyssa (Dustin Allen), Noah, Gabriel (Maylin), Abigail, Braden and Andrew as well as his great grandchildren; Milo, Khairo, Hunter, and Zoey. His sister; Rosemary (Ronald) Grabowski also survives.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his son; Matthew, and his siblings; Janet, Vivian, and Larry.
Gary was a man of many talents. He could fix just about anything. Gary always had tools handy just in case someone was in need. He did most repairs on the rental properties he owned.
He was a distributor of Troy-built tillers for many years. He serviced those that he sold. Many times Gary would offer his service of tilling up gardens to show how well his product worked.
Gary then created G & D Photography where he captured many wedding, graduation, birthday party, and anniversary party memories. He enjoyed capturing the perfect moment!
Gardening was another of Gary's passions. He always planted a big garden so that he was able to share the harvest with family and friends. He definitely had a green thumb!
Gary never lost his sense of humor. He always tried to make, whomever he met, laugh. Even when the oncology nurse would ask "How do you feel?" his answer would be "with my hands"!
Gary was a believer and a faithful follower of Jesus. He rests now in the arms of Jesus, reunited with Diana and Matthew. He was adorded by his family and will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Gary will be held from 2pm-5pm on Sunday February 25, 2024 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend.
