Gary Mark Routh

April 27, 1949 ~ June 16, 2022 (age 73)


Gary Mark Routh, age 73, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away at 2:20pm on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Gary was an agricultural banker working for many financial institutions including FHA, PCA, Peoples Bank and Wells Fargo. Gary was born on April 27, 1949 in Creston, Iowa to the late Marvin and Dorothy (Preston) Routh, and he has lived in this area since 1994 when arriving from Iowa. 

On July 3, 1973, in El Paso, TX, Gary married Elizabeth Hoskins, who survives. Gary and Elizabeth would have been married almost 50 years. Also surviving is a daughter, Kellie (Chad) Dean of La Porte City, Iowa; three sons, Scott (Jasminka) Davidson of Waterloo, Iowa; Mark Aaron (Sherrie) Routh of Middlebury, IN; Adam Matthew (Stephanie) Routh of Bristol, IN; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Samantha, Gabe, Jeorgia, Austin, Paige, Emily, Corbin; two great-grandchildren, Paxton and Phoebe; and one sister, Gayle (Dennis) Herring of Bedford, Iowa.

Gary grew up farming and loved to help people with their dreams of farming. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State and honorably served his country through the United States Army. Gary loved to make ceramic pottery and enjoyed the art of producing stained glass windows. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was an avid reader, who especially enjoyed World War I literature. Gary loved is family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   

A memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530. Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
