Gene Randolph Gregory, 89, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023, after a brief illness. Born on June 13, 1934, in South Bend, Indiana, he remained a lifelong resident. Gene is survived by his brother, Robert Lee Gregory of Lawton, Michigan, his daughter, Michelle (Jerry) Streb, son, Michael (Stephanie) Gregory, stepdaughter, Danielle Weeks, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Charlie. He is predeceased by his parents, Eldridge and Carrie (Griffee) Gregory, his loving wife, Adele Gregory, and his great-granddaughter, Bristol LeGrano.
After high school, Gene served in the United States Army as a prison guard in Alaska where he learned to enjoy skiing. He completed his associate degree from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago which led to a job at Associates in South Bend where he met his wife, Adele.
Along with Adele, he owned and operated several restaurants throughout the years, including Mishawaka Dairy Fair and Dog-n-Suds Drive- In and the Minute Man in Dunlap, Indiana. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of his family and friends, and that he relished many beloved pets. He and Adele created beautiful Koi filled garden ponds in their backyard that were admired by many.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the service. The burial of ashes will take place at 1:00 p.m. on December 1, 2023, at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park, 375 West Cleveland Road, Granger, IN 46530.
