Gene H. Snyder, 92, a lifelong resident of North Liberty passed away on Monday December 1, 2025, at the Center for Hospice Ernestine Raclin house in Mishawaka.
Gene was born in North Liberty on March 7, 1933, to the late Palmer and Minnie (Nelson) Snyder.
After high school Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army.
On November 22, 1956, he married Peggy Wilson, sharing 69 years of marriage.
A man of many talents, he co-owned and operated the Standard station in North Liberty with his brother as well as a career as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal service.
Gene is survived by his wife, Peggy, his children; Cindy (Jim) Crume, Sharri (Mike) Harris, and Doug Snyder. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Christopher (Autumn) Crume, Elizabeth (Nathaniel) Justice, Amy (Tommie) Blalock, David (Amy) Harris, Megan Snyder, and Michael Snyder as well as 4 great grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Phyllis Hess, Maxine Amor, and Harold Snyder.
Visitation for Gene will be held from 10am-11am EST on Thursday December 11, 2025, at the Koontz Lake Missionary Church, 8044 IN-23 Walkerton, IN 46574. A funeral service will begin at 11am EST at the church with burial to follow at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
