George Keith Hall, a man who lived his life with a passion for the open road and a love for his family, passed away at 2:30 am on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born on January 9, 1942, in Dowagiac, MI, George's journey through life was one marked by dedication, resilience, and the joy of creation.
George's early years in Dowagiac laid the foundation for a life of hard work and ingenuity. He was the son of the late Carrol and Rosa (Dell) Hall and was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Hall; and stepdaughter, Mary McPhail. George's family was his compass, guiding him through the many chapters of his life. On November 21, 1988, he married the love of his life, Betty Jane (Owen) Hall, and together they built a family that included sons, Dennis Hall, Mark Hall, Kenneth (Sharon) Fobes, and Anthony (Carolyn) Fobes; and daughter, Dawn High. His brothers Rolland and Robert (Janet) Hall, along with his sister Carolyn Henderson, also held special places in his heart.
George's professional life was characterized by his tenure at Ameriwood Industries and his dedicated service in maintenance at Ascension Borgess Hospital. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his ability to fix anything was nothing short of legendary. George took pride in building his home from scratch, pouring his heart and soul into every nail and beam, ensuring it was a warm and welcoming place for all who entered.
Beyond his professional achievements, George's true passions were his Harley's, trucks, Corvettes, and motorcycles. He was a familiar face at car shows, where he shared his love for classic and powerful machines with fellow enthusiasts. George's hands were rarely still, as he was always tinkering, repairing, or improving something. His ability to explain complex things in simple terms made him a cherished mentor and friend.
George's legacy is not only in the tangible things he built and fixed but also in the intangible lessons of love, perseverance, and joy he imparted to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry a piece of his spirit into the future.
While there will be no services at this time, George will be laid to rest in South Wayne Cemetery at a later date, where his memory will be honored by those who loved him most. Palmer Funeral Home - Hoven Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be made at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
