George Nyerges Obituary

George A. Nyerges, 93, of Granger, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Healthwin Specialized Care, South Bend, IN.

George was born on December 9, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph S. Nyerges and Nina (Kizer) Nyerges. He married the love of his life, Constance Nyerges, on January 20, 1957, in Plymouth, Indiana. They shared 68 years of marriage before Connie preceded him in death on January 31, 2025.

George dedicated his career to Bendix, where he worked as a sheet metal production worker. He was known as a hardworking, dependable man who took pride in providing for his family.

Outside of work, George enjoyed spending time outdoors and pursuing the hobbies he loved most. He was an avid deer hunter, enjoyed fishing, found peace in gardening, and especially enjoyed flying remote-control airplanes. His quiet strength, patience, and love of nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

George is survived by his daughters, Terri Bazyk and Sheree Nyerges, both of South Bend; his grandchildren, Jesse, Kyle, and Wyatt; and his cherished great-granddaughter, Margot. He is also survived by his brothers, Albert Nyerges and Richard (Jeanie) Nyerges, both of Granger.

In addition to his wife, Constance, George was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Alan Nyerges; his sisters, Linda Weston and Shirley Rankin; his brother, Robert Nyerges and his son-in-law, Randy Bazyk;.

Family and friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, IN 46635. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

George will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to his family, and the simple joys he found in the outdoors. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Memorials may be made to any local pet shelter.
