Gregory “Greg” Andrew Mattson, age 71, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on May 14, 2026. He was born on April 10, 1955, in Glencoe, Minnesota, to the late Andrew and Martha Mattson. On June 12, 2001, Greg married the love of his life, Beth Hamilton Mattson, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Greg is survived by his loving wife and family, Beth Hamilton Mattson; two sons, Jonathan (Sarah) Mattson of St. Cloud, Minnesota and Andrew (Amy) Mattson of New Braunfels, Texas; one daughter, Dr. Christina Mattson of New York, New York; one stepdaughter, Heather Nelson (Gary Susan); five grandchildren, Lilian, Tommy, Teddy, Mariah, McKaleigh; and two sisters, Doreen Birkholz (Gordy) of Howard Lake, Minnesota and Darlene Artmann of Lester Prairie, Minnesota.
Greg dedicated most of his sales career to supporting Russ Rodeghero and Jerry Collins as they built Lami Plast into a leading supplier to the RV industry. His sales expertise produced lasting relationships and friendships throughout his 30 years with the company. Outside of work, Greg was well known for his business, Mattson’s Meat Masters. He had a deep passion for barbecuing and catering events, including one of his favorite traditions, feeding alumni and cadets during the Notre Dame-Navy Game. Greg’s love for cooking and good food was only matched by the joy he found in bringing people together. He had a large social circle and truly cherished spending time with family and friends, creating countless memories filled with laughter, conversation, and great meals.
According to Greg’s wishes, cremation will take place. Family and friends are invited to share their favorite stories and memories as we celebrate his life at an Open House on June 13, 2026, from 4 pm to 7 pm, at Palmer Funeral Homes-Hickey Chapel.
