Gussie Williams, 77, of South Bend, IN, passed away on May 2, 2022 of natural causes.
Gussie Williams was born on August 8, 1944 to Annie Pearl Wright and Frank Wright in Jackson, Mississippi. Gussie graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1962.
In 1963, Gussie met Joseph Williams in Gary, Indiana. Gussie and Joseph had a total of 15 children, 20 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren.
Gussie loved spending time with her family and friends. She treasured the moments with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was no respecter of persons. She would get you together as well as give you a place to stay and something to eat.
Gussie was preceded in death by (husband) Joseph Williams,(mother) Annie Wright, (father) Frank Wright, (maternal Grandparents) Mary and Sid Brown, (paternal Grandmother) Della Wright, (siblings) Willie Wesby, Henry Tyler, Francine Collins, Reggie Tatum, Charles Logan, Varlonus James, (daughter) Sherrelle Williams, (grandchild) Brad Scott and Amanda Love, (special Sister) Dorothy Pope Jackson, and (special Friend) McKinley Jones.
She is survived by (children) Barbara Whaley, Rufus (Arlette) McClendon, Renee Henderson, Jo Anne (Anthony) Haithcox, Franklin Williams, Darryl Williams, Marjorie (Stanley) Williams, Danekia (Corey) Mitchell, Ronald (Joya)Williams, Kenneth Williams, Anthony (Bridget) Williams, and Angela (Ed) Blackmon, (siblings) Tony Collins, Donald Wright, Frank Wright Jr.,Doris (Liney) Neal, Hattie James, Patricia Tatum, Debra Logan, Dianna (Alonzo) Phillips, Jacqueline Brewer, Anthony Wright, Lorraine (James) Browning, (grandchildren) Donnie Dikes, David Middleton Jr.,Wallace (Vickey) Nabaa, Jalana Lacy, Scherrese (Robert) Guffey, Danyelle Middleton, Jerrard (Mary) James, Lukeia (Mario) Pfeifer, Devon Williams, Darryl Williams Jr., Tyree Scott, and Tyrianna Williams, Bobbe Suggs, Carlton Crockett Jr., Alexis Suggs, Alexander Suggs, Caila Crockett, Caitlin Crockett, Taylar Mitchell. Kandace McClendon, and Cassandra (Aubrey) Polk. Along with (special friends) Charles Griffin, and Reba Brooks.
Services will be held at New Horizons Outreach Ministry, 56165 Mayflower Rd, South Bend, 46619 on Friday, May 6, 2022. Viewing will be from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Funeral to proceed directly after at 1:00pm. Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
