Harry L. Key

Harry L. Key of South Bend, IN transitioned from this life October 3, 2015 at Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.  He was born on December 18, 1943 in Jackson, TN to the union of David and Katherine Key, both preceded him in death.  He grew up in Jackson and attended Merry High School.  Following graduation from high school, he relocated to Chicago, IL and was employed for many years as a security guard at Pinkerton Security.  Relocating to South Bend in 2001, Harry was employed at Fatima House and North Dining Hall at Notre Dame, IN.  He was a faithful member of the Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an usher until his illness limited his participation.

Mr. Key is survived by a daughter, Romana (Scott) Hines; grandchildren, Stacy, Tracy and Stephany Wilson all of South Bend, IN; great granddaughter, Natalia Piyojpl of South Bend, IN; sisters, Rose Carpenter of South Bend, IN, Carrie Key of Jackson, TN, Roberta (Jack) Haynes of South Bend, IN and Martha (Burbon) Redd of Memphis, TN; brothers, David Key and Robert Key, both of South Bend, IN.  Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  Harry will be truly missed by all who knew him. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alberta Borkcom, brother, Walter Key and brother-in-law, Eddie L. Carpenter.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 141 S. Camden Street, South Bend, IN.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services at church.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
