Helen K. Grams, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023, in South Bend, Indiana. Born on June 9, 1926, in Mishawaka, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Kathryn (Hagis) Kouroubetis.
Helen was a strong and dedicated woman, working many years in customer service at K-Mart, where her tireless work ethic and positive attitude gained her the respect and admiration of her coworkers. Always involved and eager to keep up with the times, Helen remained an avid reader throughout her life, staying informed on current events and topics.
In her free time, she loved watching Notre Dame football and enjoyed playing golf, an activity that allowed her to stay active and engaged with others. But beyond her personal interests, it was her role as the matriarch of her family that meant the most to Helen. Her love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was evident in her words and actions, always going above and beyond to ensure their well-being.
Helen's devotion to her family was only matched by her commitment to hard work. She instilled the values of persistence, dedication, and resilience in her children, qualities that they have carried on in their own lives. As a result, her children fondly remember her as a loving and supportive mother who was always there for them, no matter the circumstances.
It is in this spirit of love and support that Helen's family honors her memory. She is survived by her children: Julie (Scott) Waterhouse, Catherine Grams, Dena (Kent) Wierks, Josephine (Charles) Day, Michael (Peggy) Grams, and John (Mary) Grams. In addition, she leaves behind six beloved grandchildren and five cherished great-grandchildren, all of whom carry on her legacy of love. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, John Grams; her brothers, John and Milton Kouroubetis.
