Herbert James Agillard

Herbert James Agillard, 78, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Sanctuary at Holy Cross in South Bend, Indiana. He was born on October 13, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Herbert J. Agillard and Henrietta Delone, both of whom preceded him in death.

On January 5, 2001 in South Bend, Herbert married the former Jimmie L. Gates, who survives. In addition to his wife of nearly 20 years, Herbert is survived by daughters, Jackie Agillard-Jones of Hammond, LA; Shelia Peters of Hammond; and Corinne Nelson of Benton Harbor, MI; sons, Herbert Delone of Alamogordo, NM, and Eric Agillard of Jacksonville, FL; step-son, Tramine Barr of South Bend, IN; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Vera Thomas of Hammond; Doris Barnes of Hammond; and Joanna Graham of Seattle, WA; and brother, Edward Delone of Baton Rouge, LA.

Herbert was employed as an engineer at Bendix Corporation. Herbert served his country honorably in the United States Army.

Funeral services will be held privately at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Herbert will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
