Herbert Chandler, Sr.

Herbert Chandler, Sr., passed away on January 19, 2020 in his home, surrounded by family and friends. Herbert was born in Houston, MS on March 25, 1941 to the late Allen and Arean (Mosley) Chandler. Herbert graduated from West High School in 1959. He retired from AM General after 30+ years of service.

Herbert surrendered his life to Christ as an early age. He was a member of Joshua’s Temple Church in Fort Wayne, IN. He loved playing softball and bowling. He was an active member of Narcotics Anonymous and acquired ten years clean and serene.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Chandler; his mother, Arean (Mosley) Chandler; as well as his brother, James Allen Chandler.

Herbert is survived by daughters Sonya Chandler of South Bend and Cynthia Lusby of Memphis, TN; son Herbert Chandler, II. of  Ontario, CA; two grandchildren, Daislyn and Tristan; five brothers: Eddie (Helen) Chandler of Fairview Heights, IL, Charles (Geraldine) Chandler of Jackson, GA, Morris (Sandra) Chandler of Jackson, TN, Norris (Gwendolyn) Chandler of Murfreeboro, TN and Clifton Chandler of Jackson, TN; three sisters: Luerean Walker of Highland, IL, Annie Paxton of Jackson, TN and Pearlie Gillispie of Jackson, TN; special friends and caregivers Jeff Caley, Roosevelt Chandler, Alyssa B., Shawna O., Donnie H and Greg W. Herbert will be loved and missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well.

Services for Mr. Herbert Chandler, Sr. will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628.
