Hilda M (Henry) Bare

Hilda M. Bare, 94 years old, passed away peacefully at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle, IN.  Hilda was born on March 9, 1925 in South Bend to the late Herman and Margaret Henry. 

Hilda worked at Studebaker’s after high school.  She married Arthur L. Bare on September 19. 1948 in Zion United Church of Christ. Her husband, Art, preceded her in death on October 12, 1989.   Hilda was active in the Women’s Guild and Young at Heart.  Art and Hilda enjoyed camping in their retirement years and were avid walkers at University Park Mall.  After Art’s passing, Hilda volunteered at the Football Hall of Fame and Leighton Center.  She was also a line dancer and bell ringer at St. Paul’s. 

Hilda is survived by her daughter, Karen (Joseph) Gyarmati; grandchildren, Kathleen (Jake) Foglesong and Joseph M. Gyarmati; her great grandchildren, William and Aubrey; and one sister, Margaret Danner.  Along with her parents and husband, Hilda was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend.  Pastor Bob Vale will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
