Ida Mae Fowler, 66 years old, passed away peacefully at 11:22 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Ida was born on July 21, 1959, in Medina, OH, to the late Richard Gollehon and Patricia (Militello) Bailey.
Ida worked for many years as a server at Callahan’s Restaurant in Elkhart, IN, where she was cherished not only for her dedication and work ethic but for the kindness and joy she brought to every guest she served. To those who knew her, she wasn’t just a server — she was a bright light, spreading laughter, warmth, and friendship. Her natural gift for hospitality made everyone feel like family.
Beyond her work, Ida had a deep love for life’s simple beauty. She enjoyed thrifting for hidden treasures, sharing thoughtful gifts, and taking care of anyone — or any animal — in need. Her home was always open, and her heart even more so. Ida’s selflessness and compassion for others will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Ida is survived by her two children, Lakyshia Douglas of Savannah, GA, and Henry Gollehon of South Bend; four grandchildren, Carmen Davis, Elaun Douglas, Ezra Douglas, and Steven Dooley; one great-grandchild, Charis Davis; three sisters, Linda Oberle of Belleville, OH, Mary (Jim) Powers of Mansfield, OH, and Martie Bailey of Mansfield, OH; and two brothers, Richard Gollehon of Mansfield, OH, and Jimmy Gollehon of Mansfield, OH. Along with her parents, Ida was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Gollehon.
Even in her passing, Ida’s spirit continues through her final act of generosity — organ donation — a lasting reflection of the way she lived her life: giving, caring, and full of love.
