Jacqueline Hunt

Jacqueline Suzanne Hunt (Stewart), lovingly known to family and friends as “Jackie,” passed away on July 28, 2026, at the age of 74. A resident of South Bend, Indiana, Jackie was born on November 1, 1951, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She spent much of her childhood growing up in South Bend, she developed a lifelong love of gardening and learned to care for the flowers and plants that would always bring her joy.

Jackie was the star of our life a determined, beautiful, hardworking, outspoken, and giving woman who lived life on her own terms. Working alongside her father and younger brother at Bendix for a while. She was truly one of a kind, that had a heart for caring for others and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant before fulfilling her dream of owning and operating her own daycare, Little Things Matter, where she lovingly cared for countless children and made a lasting impact on the families she served.

Jacquline was truly a queen of all trades. Whether she was caring for her family, tackling a new project, lending a helping hand, or sharing her wisdom, there was very little she couldn’t do. She approached every challenge with determination, creativity, and strength. A breast cancer survivor, she faced life’s hardships with remarkable courage and resilience and putting God first. Even during her own struggles, she remained devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, showering them with unconditional love, guidance, and unforgettable memories. Her generous spirit, unwavering faith, and ability to make everyone feel at home will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Jackie loved cooking delicious meals, singing, dancing, sewing, drawing, tending to her indoor plants and outdoor gardens, and spending time with those she loved. She was known for speaking her mind, making people laugh, and enjoying what she affectionately called her “dranky drank.” Her vibrant spirit, strength, and authenticity will never be forgotten.

Jackie was preceded in death by her daughter, Tonya; her parents William and Elaine Stewart ; her brothers, Bobby and Terry; her grandchildren, Cornell, Brian, Wonya, and Charlieangle; and her great-granddaughter, Mariela.

She leaves behind her children, David Whiting (Amanda), Charlaine Ward, Falana McLeod, Charles McLeod, and Tomika McLeod; her siblings, Karen, Mikey, and Debbie; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Jackie also lovingly embraced her stepchildren and step-grandchildren as part of her family. To her, family was not defined only by blood but by the love, care, and commitment shared with one another. Her kindness and generosity created lasting bonds that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to call her Mommy , Granny, or simply Auntie Granny Jackie.

Jackie’s love, resilience, and generous heart touched everyone who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the children she nurtured, the gardens she cultivated, and the countless lives she enriched. Though she is no longer with us, her love and spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
