James “Jim” R. Bolze, age 87, of Walkerton, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026. Born on August 12, 1938, to Charles and Luraline (Olsen) Bolze, Jim spent his entire life in the Walkerton community.
Jim married Glenice (Cohee) Bolze on May 25, 1962, at Tabor Church in North Liberty. They shared 64 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and family devotion. He is survived by his wife Glenice, and by his children, Jill (Dennis) Groves, Chip (Mary) Bolze, Julie (Steve) Berndt, and Jamie (Greg) Estok; four grandchildren, Kimberly Bolze, Ashleigh Bolze, Bentley Estok, and Lincoln Estok; one great-grandchild, Stetson Smith; and his brothers Dave, Kenny, and Tom Bolze.
A lifelong resident of Walkerton, Jim was deeply involved in his community. He attended Walkerton Presbyterian Church, proudly served on the Walkerton Volunteer Fire Department, and owned and operated the Bolze Marathon-Service Station for over 60 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and dedicated 25 years to the Beef Committee at the LaPorte County Fair.
Jim cherished the 4-H fair, especially watching his children and grandchildren showcase their livestock. A passionate IU Hoosiers basketball fan, he loved attending and cheering on all of his family’s sporting events. Above all, Jim treasured family time, often saying, “We don’t have a lot, but we sure do have fun!” He found joy in sharing meals, stories, and laughter with those he loved.
His presence, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family and community will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
There will be no visitation or service due to Jim’s request.
