James Richard Bridges

James Richard Bridges, 60, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away on March 2, 2026.

James was born on August 20, 1965, in South Bend, to the late Jarold Bridges Sr and Diane (Trumbull) Cooper.

James is survived by his daughter, Mikayla (Devon Joiner) Bridges; his son, James “JR” Bridges Jr.; his two grandchildren, Avery and Alexander Joiner; his sisters, Tamara Albright and Deborah Vandygriff; his brother, Charles Lee; Aunt Joyce, Uncle Ben, Aunt Shari and Aunt Kathy; Along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Valerie, his former wife and mother of his daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jarold Bridges Jr ; and his uncle Elmer Trumbull.

James dedicated most of his working years to his craft as a skilled painter and drywaller. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and attention to detail. Outside of work, James enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching football and basketball, and listening to country music.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, James will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
