James R. Borton

James R. Borton, 61, of Walkerton passed away peacefully on Saturday April 25, 2026, at Cardinal Nursing Home in South Bend.

James was born on December 11, 1964, in South Bend to the late James O. and Linda Lou (Whitmer) Borton.

James was very handy and creative.  He worked for many years with the McDonald’s corporation in various roles but enjoyed making airplanes, picture frames, Ferris wheels, and creating other various things.  He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

James will be sorely missed by his siblings; Matt (Donita) Borton, John Borton, Mary (Ralph) Wise, LouAnn Etherton, and along with 13 nieces and nephews and 27 great-nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, JeanAnn Carrington.

A celebration of life for James will be held from 4pm-7pm on Wednesday May 6, 2026, at the Palmer Funeral Home-North Liberty Chapel, 202 N. Main St. North Liberty.  He will be interred at a later date at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James’ name may be made to Paradigm Hospice.
