James "Jim" R. Johnson

James R. Johnson, age 90, residing in Lakeville, Indiana, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, at home.  Jim worked in security for Associates retiring in 1994 after 14 ½ years. Prior to that he worked security for Indiana University South Bend.  Jim was born on March 23, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois to the late C. Robert Johnson and Frances A. (Adams) Johnson.

On November 22, 1980, in South Bend, Indiana Jim married Norma (Yoder) Johnson, who survives. Along with his wife, Norma, Jim is survived by daughters, Julie Milcherska of Mishawaka, Jaynie Bruce of South Bend, and Kathy Bice of Lakeville; seven sons, Paul (Kim) Johnson of Mishawaka, Marty (Kelly) Johnson of Fort Myers, Florida, John R, Sellenberg of Columbia, Tennessee, Bob (Sue) Sellenberg of South Bend, Rick Sellenberg of South Bend, Jim (Judy) Sellenberg of Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Charles (Julie) Sellenberg of South Bend; twenty-two grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, Dean Johnson of Simsbury, Connecticut, and David (Ruth) McCall Johnson. 

Jim was a member of River Park United Methodist Church, South Bend. 

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Palmer Funeral Home- River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Shar Kobb will officiate.  Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 p.m. until time of services in the funeral home.  Interment will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
