James Paul Pallo, affectionately known as Muggz to those who knew him best, left this world on December 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and a life lived with genuine passion. Born on March 31, 1969, in South Bend, Indiana, he always held his roots close to his heart.
Muggz embraced life’s journey with his beloved wife Penny (Roemer) Pallo by his side, whom he married on June 26, 2004, in Bremen, Indiana. Their love story was a testament to the strength and beauty that comes from truly cherishing one another. Although he bids farewell to this world, he leaves behind the rich tapestry of his family's love.
A New Prairie High School graduate of the class of 1987, Muggz dedicated more than four decades of his life to perfecting the craft of a meat cutter and butcher. His commitment to his work was evident not only in the artistry with which he performed his duties but also in the joy he found in going to work every day. His absence will be felt deeply by his colleagues and the many patrons who came to know him not just as a butcher, but as a friend.
Muggz’s vigor for life extended far beyond his profession. An avid angler, he excelled in tying fishing flies, creating such intricate and effective flies that they were sought after by fellow fishing enthusiasts. In addition to his skill on the water, those close to him will fondly recall his prowess at the grill. Muggz was a very good cook, and his culinary delights were a highlight at many gatherings.
His radiant personality meant he didn't know a stranger; to meet Muggz was to become a friend. His absence will leave spaces in lives that can never be filled.
Muggz was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Pallo and Carol Ann (Burnette) Pallo, and a sister, Sue Ann Getman. His legacy lives on through his cherished family, including his stepdaughters, Cheryl Lynn (Robert) Anderson and Christina Mangold; his grandchildren, Joshaua, Emily, Holly, and Gabriel; his siblings, Vickie Pallo, Judy (Robert) Morin, Andy (Lorie) Pallo, David (Margaret) Pallo, Patrick (Paula) Pallo, and Mike Pallo; his brother in law George (Michelle) Roemer; Sister in law Carol Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
At this time per Muggz’ wishes there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel is honored to be assisting the family with final arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be donated in Muggz name to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
