Jane J Ayres

Jane Jordan Ayres of Rockford, Illinois passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the age of 82.

Jane was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on September 2, 1941. She was a graduate of Mishawaka High School Class of ’59. She graduated from Purdue University, Class of ’63 with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and Daughters of the American Revolution.

After college graduation she was married to William L. Ayres of West Lafayette, Indiana. During their 26-year marriage, they raised their two children in their home in Rockford, Illinois. She resided in her home there for almost 50 years. In May 2022, she relocated to Minneapolis after a short hospital stay to Sunrise Assisted Living in Edina, Minnesota.

Jane was preceded in death by her father, John Paul Jordan, mother Mildred Dryden Jordan, and sister Sara Jordan Hampton, former husband William L Ayres and long-time friend Richard Shields. She is survived by her two children, son David L. Ayres (Rockford, Illinois) and daughter Ann M. Ayres (Minneapolis, Minnesota), as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jane’s sense of humor and smile will be dearly missed. 

A memorial service will be held on December 1, 2023 at 10:00 am at Fairview Cemetery 1415 N. Main St. Mishawaka, 46545 in the mausoleum chapel.
