Jeanne Gail (White) Hendricks

Jeanne Gail Hendricks, known to family and friends as Jeanne, passed away on July 1, 2026, in South Bend, Indiana, at the age of 70.

Born on October 31, 1955, in Mishawaka, Indiana, Jeanne lived a life marked by warmth, wit, and devotion to the people and places she loved. She was the kind of person who could brighten a room with her humor, put others at ease with her friendly nature, and leave a lasting impression through her intelligence and kindness. Those who knew her will remember her as a woman who carried herself with grace and sincerity, and who made meaningful connections wherever she went.

Jeanne earned her bachelor’s degree and went on to devote 36 years of service to the University of Notre Dame in the Development Department. Her long career there reflected not only her strong work ethic and loyalty, but also her deep appreciation for the mission and community of the university. She took great pride in her work and valued the friendships and relationships she built over the years. Notre Dame was more than a place of employment to Jeanne. It was a meaningful part of her life, and she was proud to have contributed so many years to its success.

Outside of work, Jeanne was known for the many friendships she nurtured and the genuine care she showed to others. She had a special love for animals and found joy in their companionship. Her home and her life were filled with affection, laughter, and the comfort of close relationships. She especially treasured her family and the bonds that sustained her throughout her life.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Robert Hendricks, and her sister, Lori Sullivan and her husband Bill Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Patrick, whom she loved and cared for deeply throughout her life. The love she held for her family was unwavering, and those closest to her will forever remember her devotion, strength, and tenderness.

Jeanne will be remembered as a funny, intelligent, and friendly woman whose presence brought comfort and joy to others. Her laughter, her thoughtful nature, and her steady companionship left an enduring mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She lived with a spirit of kindness and authenticity that made her beloved by many.

Her life was one of dedication, love, and quiet strength. Though her passing leaves a profound loss, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her husband, her sister, her friends, her colleagues, and all who were touched by her life. Jeanne’s legacy is one of devotion to family, loyalty to her work, and a genuine love for the people and animals that brought her happiness.

Cremation will take place and burial will be at a later date.
