Jerome Alan Waddell, affectionately known as “Tiny Baby,” passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, in Mishawaka, Indiana, at the age of 65.
He was born on August 12, 1960, in South Bend, Indiana, to Nathaniel and LouElla Waddell. Jerome attended local schools in South Bend. He carried himself with warmth and a strong sense of pride in the life he built for himself and those he loved.
Jerome worked as a laborer in telecommunications, where he was known for his dependable nature and willingness to do whatever was needed. He approached his work with dedication and a steady hand, earning the respect of those who knew him.
Outside of work, Jerome was a man who brought energy and joy wherever he went. He loved grilling and was proudly known as the “BBQ King.” He also enjoyed wrestling and had a gift for making any gathering feel lively. Jerome was truly the life of the party, and his laughter could brighten even the heaviest of days.
Those who knew Jerome will remember him as funny, passionate, and selfless. He had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, and he never hesitated to share a smile, a joke, or a helping hand. His presence left a lasting impression on family and friends alike, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Jerome leaves to cherish his memory: his sons, Jerome Waddell of Katy, Texas, and Jeremy Waddell of Fenton, Michigan. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Kayla Waddell, Abigail Waddell, Jerome Waddell, Brielle Waddell, Bryson Waddell, Karson Waddell, and Emmitt Waddell; one great-grandchild, Jeremiah Coleman; a host of nieces and nephews; and his brothers, Nathaniel (Linda) Waddell and Terry (Marlene) Waddell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Johnson-Waddell; his parents, Nathaniel Waddell, Sr. and LouElla (Wilks) Erby; and his sisters, Cora Robinson and Vivian Stewart.
Jerome’s life was one of love, laughter, and lasting memories. Though he will be deeply missed, the legacy of his kindness, humor, and devotion to family will remain a source of comfort to those who carry his memory forward.
