Jimmie Morris, 100, of Buchanan, Michigan, passed away on February 16, 2026, in Niles.
Jimmie was born on June 17, 1925, in Buchanan to the late Max and Esther (Painter) Morris. He was a 1943 graduate of Buchanan High School and proudly served his country after joining the U.S. Army in 1944.
On August 20, 1948, Jimmie married Dorothy Hines, and together they shared a beautiful life for nearly 75 years until her passing in 2023.
Jimmie is survived by his sons, Brad (Laura) Morris and Gary Morris. He was blessed with twelve grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. He was preceded in death by his sons, Lanny, Jimmie, and Daryl Morris, along with his brothers, Richard, Max Jr., Jack, and Jerry.
Known to his family as “Pops”, Jimmie was a hard worker with a drive that never faded. He was exceptionally smart and could fix anything. He spent countless hours in his workshop, “Pop’s Fix It Shop”, at the family home on Liberty Street—a home he and Dotti lived in for 70 years and one he considered his pride and joy. As their family grew, he spent his time after work and on weekends adding on to the home himself, tripling it in size to accommodate their 5 boys. In his later years, Jimmie always had some type of project he was working on.
Jimmie was a simple man who believed in making every dollar count. He would repair an item long before considering buying a new one. He worked for more than 40 years at Clark Equipment as an electrician, retiring in 1983. Retirement didn’t slow him down—he went on to work at Jack Post, and even into his 90s he continued as an independent contractor, teaching the next generation the electrical skills he had mastered over a lifetime.
Funeral services for Jimmie will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Palmer Funeral Home – Hoven Chapel, 414 E. Front St., Buchanan. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan.
