Joan H. Mass

Joan H. Mass, 81, of South Bend, IN passed away at 1:04 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend.  She was born on September 22, 1933 in South Bend, IN to the late Homer Ames and Helen (Rintzsch) Conger.  She was united in marriage to Richard Mass in South Bend on August 30, 1952.

Joan is survived by her husband, Dick Mass; daughter, Patt L. (Rich) Bennett of Osceola, IN; four grandchildren, Eric Bennett, Meg Filippello, Kelly Murray and Reid Walsh and ten great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Bob Conger; daughter, Pamela Ann Walsh and brother, Richard Ames.

Joan was a long time resident of Osceola.  She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, South Bend.

Per Joan's request, she has donated her body to Indiana University Anatomical Board. 

Joan was an avid bowler, loved camping and rubber stamping with her friends.  In later years she made and sent cards to the shut-ins at her church.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Our Redeemer, 805 S. 29th Street, South Bend, IN 46615. Visitation will be one hour before at 10:00 AM. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, South Bend is assisting the family.

Contributions in memory of Joan H. Mass may be offered to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
