John Erie Bosson, 60 years old, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 6, 2021 at his home in South Bend. John was born December 11, 1960 in Indianapolis to the late Bob and Betty (Papay) Bosson. On December 11, 2018 in South Bend, John married Mary Rene Trevino.
John was a very brilliant man. John attended both St Joseph High School and John Adams High School – graduating from John Adams in 1978. He then graduated from Ivy Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, John proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked at WSBT in broadcasting for 25 years before retiring. John loved to travel and experience nature. He was also an avid photographer and writer. Some of his more esteemed writings were his Nursery Rhymes for Adults.
John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Rene Trevino of South Bend; step-daughters, Jade Elise Varela of Florida and Tricia (Joe) Leigh Ugland of Colorado; grandchildren, Juliet, Santos, Leonardo, Trevor, Isabel, and Colby; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Papay of South Bend; and niece, Linda (Justin) McLain and their son, Dylan McLain, of Covington, IN. Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Michael Papay, his mother-in-law, Shirley Sherman Trevino, and his father-in-law, Loenel J. Trevino, who simply adored John.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Southlawn Cemetery, 61300 US Highway 31, South Bend, 46614. Palmer Funeral Homes-River Park Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting family with arrangements.
