John Dawson Obituary

John E. Dawson “JD” 67 of Lakeville, IN went home to be with the Lord on 11/24/23 while in the comfort of Ernestine M. Raclin House, Center for Hospice surrounded by his friends and family, after the onset of ALS. 

John was a graduate of Lasalle High School, South Bend, IN, a veteran of the United States Army (Military Police) and served as a Mishawaka Police Officer for 27 years.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and James Dawson, and his sister Shirley Hoffman.

John is survived by his wife, Jennifer Fragomeni Dawson and his siblings, Joseph, Sharon, Theresa, Sally, Jimmy, Mark and Julie. John was the father of two sons, with his previous wife Carla Dawson (Oradat), Greg (Jessica) and Tony Dawson (Katrina). John was a loving grandfather to Derrick, Leah, Lilly, Alivia, A.J. and Elianna, with a great grandchild on the way.

John spent the end of his life enjoying his time with his wife Jennifer Fragomeni Dawson, taking care of his horse Allie, and working at the Studebaker Museum in South Bend. John’s smile, caring heart, and his stern opinions will truly be missed. Thank you for your dedication to our country, our community, and our family.

Visitation for John will be from 10am-11am on Friday December 1, 2023 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S Michigan St. South Bend.  A funeral service will begin at 11 am at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend where military honors will be rendered.
