John A. Kubinski, 70, of Granger, IN, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. He was born on June 11, 1951 in Detroit, MI, to the late Joseph and Sophie (Kubat) Kubinski. On March 27, 1976 in Detroit, MI, John married Mary Jo (Regan) Kubinski, who preceded him in death on October 16, 2011. On March 8, 2014, John remarried Kathleen (Peters) Miller Kubinski, who survives.
Also surviving are his daughters, Elizabeth Ann Kubinski of South Bend, IN, and Sarah Kubinski (J.J.) Marler of South Bend, IN; Kathleen’s daughters, Elizabeth Miller of Tampa, FL, and Sarah Miller of Columbus, OH; two grandchildren, Evan Marler and Violet Miller; brother, Joseph (Karen) Kubinski of Dearborn, MI; and sister, Mary Magdalene (Patrick) Olk of Dearborn, MI.
John nurtured his faith while attending Notre Dame, ultimately earning a Ph.D. in psychology. His faith was at the center of his character, reflected daily in his devotion to family and friends. John’s intellectual curiosity continued throughout life, as an avid reader and great conversationalist. He loved running and the great outdoors, especially kayaking on the St. Joe River and Lake Michigan. His incredible sense of humor and unconditional love touched countless people—if you knew him, you loved him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 11:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 226 Hill St., South Bend, IN, with visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
