John Michael Lawson

John Michael Lawson, 66 years old, passed away unexpectedly at 5:22 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Richard Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.  John was born on April 21, 1954 in South Bend to the late Leroy and Helen (Shafer) Lawson.  He has remained a lifelong resident of South Bend with a passion for Studebakers and flying.  On September 1, 1995 in Granger, John and Cathryn Ann Rosander were finally united in marriage, after meeting when they were in the fifth grade.

Along with his wife, Cathy, he is survived by his five children, Jasona (David) Sioson, Michael Lawson, James (Patricia) Lawson, Tera Lawson Coria, and Jasmine Lawson; four step-children, Jennifer Tabor, Lindsey (Mike Sauter) Tabor, Jaclyn (Greg) Tabor-Lyman, and Brandon (Emily) Tabor; 22 grandchildren, Sonah, Shaina, Cyan, Jaiden, Christopher, Grace, Hezekiah, Antonio, Gabriella, Julianna, Christopher, BreYanne, “Pig”, Geneva, Anja, Lola, Asher, Kennedy, Gregory Beau, Rose, Landon and Nash; one great grandchild, Azaleah; four siblings, Larry, Patricia, Nancy, and Linda; and his 4-legged lover Daisy.  Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by three siblings, Bob, Kenneth and Barbara.

Military honors will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka.  Friends may visit with the family from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday.  Due to Covid-19, the family requests masks to be worn.
