John Leffel Obituary

John Ryland Leffel, 78, passed away peacefully in Mishawaka, IN, on February 16, 2024. John was born on January 24, 1946, to the late Wilbur Ryland Leffel and Irene Margaret (Lehman) Leffel Martin and grew up in Richville, Michigan.

John held several titles in his life: cost accountant, small business owner, husband to Linda (Healey) of Davison, Michigan, and father to Tammy (Christopher) Harvey, also of Davison, MI, and David (Jennifer) Leffel of North Liberty, Indiana. His favorite role, however, was that of grandfather to his four beautiful granddaughters, Sara (24), Ashlyn (21), Emily (17), and Becca (16), and grandson Tom (Briana) Bachtel (32), and two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie (8) and Hunter (7).  He leaves them many memories they will treasure and find comfort in for years to come.

John was nostalgic for the 1950s and '60s eras. He could often be found reliving the time listening to music, attending classic car shows, and sharing memories of back in the day.  He also enjoyed watching polka and bluegrass bands at area festivals and concerts. One of his favorite pastimes was family gatherings, playing cards and board games, and having a good meal. He loved taking family vacations exploring the country, but his favorite location was always the view of the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan.
