John A. Lipp Jr., 73, of South Bend, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021, of natural causes at his residence.
John was born December 2, 1947, in South Bend to John and Mary (Hildebrand) Lipp, Sr.
He graduated from Riley High School in 1966. In 1968, John went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was awarded with a purple heart during his service.
John retired from NIPSCO after thirty-seven years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He loved riding his Harleys, tinkering in his man-cave and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Lipp of South Bend; children, Angie (Jeff) Leffler of Rolling Prairie, Kevin Lipp of Aurora, Illinois, and Hilary (Justin) Johnson of South Bend; five grandchildren, Sarah, Tyler, Danielle, Tanner (Brooke) Andrew; two great-grandchildren, Lillian and Bryson. Also surviving are two siblings, Barbara (Bud) Zesinger of Vandalia, Michigan, and Jim (Linda) Lipp of Lakeville and son-in-law Brad Brooke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Kim Brooke.
Funeral services for John will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend.
Visitation will be from 11:00AM until time of service on Saturday. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
