John "Laffy" A. Ferrett

John “Laffy” Ferrett, 87, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 6:55 a.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Healthwin in South Bend, IN. He was born August 26, 1933 in Hubbard, Ohio to Nicholas John Ferrett and Vera Rubina (Sabol) Ferrett. On July 1, 1961 he married Andrea (LeMoine) Ferrett in Hubbard, Ohio.

After serving honorably in the United States Army, John worked for Powell Pressed Steel in Hubbard, and later, spent the last 30 years working in maintenance for the St. Joseph County Public Library in South Bend.

In addition to his wife Andrea, John is survived by his son, William Ferrett of Niles, Michigan; daughter, Julie A. Wright (Anthony) of Mishawaka; two brothers, Pete Ferrett of Hubbard, Ohio, and Bob Ferrett of Warren, Ohio; three grandchildren, Brooke Harkins of Mishawaka, and Bradley and Elise Walker, both of Elkhart; and two great-grandchildren, Mariah Smith and Zayden Pepper, both of Mishawaka.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristen Walker, and two brothers, Nick and Michael.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, Indiana, with Rev. Terrence M. Coonan, Jr. officiating. Graveside services and burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
