Jonathan Ivy died at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. He passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, on his 57th birthday. He was born to Walter and Hester Ivy in 1963.
Jonathan was affectionately called “Big Penny”. He attended Chicago Public Schools. Upon graduation, he was an employee at West Suburban Hospital. He was passionate about working on cars and collecting model cars. He was a proud father to his son, Jonathan, and his grandchild. Jonathan loved technology and could frequently be seen listening to his music collection. He was a beautiful person that always had a smile on his face no matter what was going on. Jonathan was a major jokester that loved to make others laugh.
He leaves behind siblings Ronald Jennings of California, Gwen Jones of Chicago, Marcia Buchanan of Memphis, Walter (Carrie) Ivy of Chicago, Steve (Pat) Ivy of Chicago, Freda Ivy of South Bend and Shatell (Brian) Morgan. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Devona, Maggie, Lil Steve, Michael (Tiffany), Pat, Jordan and Walter, as well as a host of cousins and beloved family members and friends.
Services for Jonathan will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Homes - West Chapel, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628. Friends may call on the family for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Pastor James E. King to officiate. Burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in South Bend.
