Josefina V. Palomo, 82 years old, passed away at 1:14 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Josefina was born on August 16, 1943 in San Antonio, TX to the late Maria Antonia Solis and Lorenzo Alvarez Vega. She has resided in South Bend for the past 47 years. In June of 1975, Josefina and Jose J. Palomo were united in marriage.
Along with Jose, her loving husband of 50 years, Josefina is survived by their two children, Yoya Palomo and Julio Palomo. Her seven sisters and one brother; brother Rodolfo Vega (Eva); sisters: Rosa Suarez, Maria Guadalupe Vega, Dolores Luna, Carmen Montemayor, Maria Teresa Ricondo (Richard), Evangelina Alonzo (Lorenzo), and Herlinda Ortiz (Gilbert). Josefina is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Alfredo S. Vega.
She was a true survivor and a fighter. She overcame breast cancer and other serious illnesses. She faced every challenge with courage and determination until the very end. She retired from Aramark Uniform Services. She was a devoted wife and mother, known as the best mother anyone could ever ask for. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-watching WWE wrestling, novelas, movies, cooking shows, and football, especially cheering on her beloved Kansas City Chiefs. She loved visiting the zoo, sharing good food, and was happiest when spending time with those she loved. Selfless by nature, she would always do what she could to help others, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Private services will be held. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend and Southlawn Cremation Services is assisting the family.
