Joseph S. Macura

Joseph S. Macura, 87, residing in South Bend, passed away Monday, August 1, 2022 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend following a brief illness.

He was born November 5, 1934 in Bridgeport, CT, a son of the late George and Mary (Grinch) Macura.

He was a graduate of the Bridgeport Engineering Institute, and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Macura retired from the Office of Information Technology at the University of Notre Dame. 

On August 8, 1963 in Connecticut, Joseph was united in marriage to Carol A. Medvecky who survives. Next Monday, they would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.  Also surviving is his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew & Anna Macura of Loveland, OH, along with two grandchildren, Amelia and Grant Macura both of Loveland, OH; and his sister, Katharine Delkos of Los Angeles, CA.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend.  Rev. James Bracke, C.S.C. of the University of Notre Dame will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
