Joyce A. (Thompson) Herring

Joyce A. Herring of South Bend passed away peacefully on Monday morning, June 22, 2026 at her home.  Joyce was born in Hammond, IN to the late Otis and Cleo (Routien) Thompson.   

She is survived by her two daughters, Jodie (Rick) Hardesty of South Bend, IN and Jorie Rogers of West Lafayette, IN and four grandchildren, Brandon Rogers, Anna Hardesty, Trevor Hardesty, and Eli Hardesty.   

Joyce graduated from Purdue University with both a BS and MS in Education and spent over 30 years with the School Town of Munster teaching hundreds of elementary students.  

A lifelong Boilermaker, she never missed a football or basketball game and loved to share stories about Purdue.  

Private services will be held.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joyce may be donated to John Purdue Club, Mackey Arena, 900 John R.
